Explore the universe within.

With over 15 years of meditation practice and five cumulative months spent on silent retreat, I’ve developed a deep respect for the vast and often mysterious landscape of the human mind. As a meditation coach, I work with people at any stage of practice, supporting them on their own journeys within.

Meditation Coaching

  • I work with people who are looking to establish a consistent meditation practice, as well as those who already practice and want to deepen their experience.

My approach emphasizes enjoyment, exploration, curiosity, playfulness, and honoring your intuition.

Together, we clarify your goals and build a structure that is sustainable, developmentally appropriate, and tailored to your temperament. There are any number of valid goals for meditation, including reducing stress, improving focus, and cultivating positive mind-states, as well as spiritual growth and awakening.

My own practice began as a way of working with depression, but it gradually evolved into a serious contemplative path. I have spent a total of five months on silent retreat, including a 20-day Vipassana retreat and multiple self-directed retreats, and served in leadership at a meditation center for several years. In 2020, I began working one-on-one with Santtu Heikkinen, an experienced meditation teacher, and was subsequently authorized by him to teach.

While much of my training has taken place in Buddhist contexts, I do not teach within a particular religious framework. My approach is pragmatic, psychologically informed, and grounded in direct experience. Influences include Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ram Dass, Rob Burbea, Michael Taft, Kristin Neff, Loch Kelly, Adyashanti, and Eckhart Tolle.

  • A distinctive focus of my teaching is the brahmavihāras — the classical buddhist heart practices of lovingkindness, compassion, and sympathetic joy.

I cannot overstate how transformative it has been for me to dedicate time and effort to cultivating these positive qualities.

The benefits of these practices can include psychological healing, as well as awakening one’s subtle energy body and enabling access to states of deep absorptive concentration (jhana).

Perhaps most importantly, they can bring an element of pleasure and enjoyment to meditation that naturally increases one’s enthusiasm for practice — creating the conditions for rapid transformation.

  • As a meditation coach, I support clients in applying mindfulness tools to process intense spiritual or emotional experiences and integrate non-ordinary states of consciousness – including those that occur through meditation, breathwork, or psychedelic experiences. Such states can be thrilling, frightening, and confusing, but contemporary research is confirming what many ancient traditions understood, that when such states are approached with intention and care, they can bring about great personal growth and healing.

  • According to many traditions, meditation and other spiritual teachings should be offered freely, without requiring a fee. Unfortunately, due to the realities of living as a householder in the modern world, it would not be sustainable for me to continue to teach without some kind of compensation. In the spirit of dāna (Pali for generosity), I invite you to give what you feel is fair and meaningful without burdening yourself. I am happy to discuss this further if you have any questions or are looking for a suggested donation.
